Third Grade Software: features, marked honestly

Every capability that matters at Third Grade, each marked honestly as shipped or early-access — and the real concerns and milestones each one answers.

One grade's view of the same K–12 platform. The plain-language module catalog front door is at schoolsoftware.app; the flagship platform home is at homeroom.software.

What leads at Third Grade, and why

The platform is one system across all thirteen grades, but the capabilities that MATTER shift by grade. These are the ones that lead here, in order, each marked honestly as shipped or early-access.

Gradebook of record

Third grade is where a real gradebook-of-record starts to matter -- assignments, categories, and a term grade a parent watches; exact-integer weights, no float drift. Shipped

Standards-based grading

State testing pushes standards to the front; standards-based proficiency (a 1-4 scale, mastery threshold) maps the same scores onto the state framework the assessment tests. Shipped

Report cards

The first report card that carries real subject grades, generated honestly from the gradebook record. Shipped

Coverage-gap report

Field trips and class events are part of the upper-elementary year; the coverage-gap report flags who is not yet represented on a page. Shipped

Consent, guardian-first

Disclosure of a report card to a guardian is gated at the emit boundary, not left open. Shipped

What a family, a teacher, and a student are actually watching

The concerns of this year are specific to it — not a template with the age swapped. At Third Grade the real questions are:

  • The reading-to-learn shift -- content comprehension, not just decoding.
  • Multiplication and division fluency; fractions introduced.
  • The FIRST standardized testing year (state assessments) -- a new source of parent anxiety.
  • Homework independence -- the child owns more of the nightly routine.
  • First real letter or standards grades that a parent takes seriously.

Milestones of the Third Grade year

The developmental and academic markers this year is built around — distinct to this grade, not a shared checklist.

  • Reads to learn across science and social studies.
  • Fluent in multiplication and division; understands fractions.
  • Sits the first state standardized assessment.
  • Manages homework with lighter parent oversight.

Common questions

Why does the gradebook matter starting in third grade?

Third grade is the common pivot to real subject grades and the first state standardized test. The gradebook-of-record carries assignments and term grades with exact-integer weights, and standards-based grading maps scores onto the framework the state assessment tests.

Does the platform coach to the standardized test?

No. It records grades and proficiency against the standards honestly; it does not claim AI or test-prep over grade records.

The K–12 ladder and the wider platform

Thirteen grades, one roster, one honest platform. Move a rung in either direction, or step out to the catalog and the flagship home.

The rung this year begins from, on the same roster and the same platform.

The grade after: Fourth Grade

The rung this year leads into, on the same roster and the same platform.

What is built and what is honest-off

Live payment rails — checkout and any card charge — are founder-gated: no card is charged on these pages. The platform is SIS-adjacent: it imports the roster and reads against it, and the school keeps the authoritative enrollment record in its existing system. There is no AI over grade records — grades are recorded and projected deterministically, never inferred. Mailed report cards are honest early-access: the print-ready generation is built, and the postal send is the early-access step, named plainly. The school stays the FERPA custodian, and a rep-scoped session reads zero grade rows at the database engine. No competitor brand names appear here. Money, pricing, and checkout are not on this page.
