What Third Grade looks like here

The pivot from learning-to-read to reading-to-learn; the first year of state standardized testing in most states, and the first taste of academic independence.

Third grade is where a real gradebook-of-record starts to matter -- assignments, categories, and a term grade a parent watches; exact-integer weights, no float drift.

From the lower-elementary fluency grades into upper elementary; independence and the first testing arrive together.
